Louisville

Some towns close to Boulder exist only as a more affordable option for people wanting to work and play in Boulder, with no spirit or community of their own. Louisville is not one of these towns. While Louisville is, in fact, only miles from Boulder (allowing residents to enjoy everything Boulder has to offer) it has a unique and distinctive feel of its own. There's still room to breathe in Louisville-extensive open space and trail systems, astonishing mountain views, and small-town charm compel residents to relax and enjoy a slower pace in life.

Options and Old Town

Housing options vary greatly throughout Louisville. Elegant, covenant-controlled new homes rest hilltop on Louisville's southern border, town homes cluster mostly on the north side of town, and charming, turn-of-the-century houses comprise most of the downtown area. Each neighborhood in Louisville really has its own atmosphere; the newer areas offer up big-box retail outlets, dining, entertainment and easy highway access, while older Louisville allows for boutique shopping, family-owned restaurants and community get-togethers.

Downtown Louisville, also called Old Town, is where most action happens in Louisville. Living downtown, you're able to walk to the elementary and middles schools, the community pool and recreation center and several parks. You're also able to enjoy far-from-sleepy historic Main Street; dance, theater and visual arts abound at Art Underground, bohemian-chic shopping is plentiful with stores such as Found Underground (a favorite destination for even Denver shoppers), up-market restaurants delight and Yoga Elements keeps you looking and feeling your best. If you want to drive into Boulder for entertainment and dining, it's easy to do, but it's not a necessary element of a fabulous night out or Saturday afternoon of shopping. Voters also approved for the eventual building of a Denver Light Rail station in downtown Louisville, bringing more eclectic retailers and entertainment to the area, while making downtown Denver access even easier.

With several distinctive neighborhoods and homes, gorgeous mountain views and a revitalized, exciting downtown area, Louisville has something for everyone, and gives it up with an affordable price tag.
