Mapleton Hills is flanked to the east by Pearl Street Mall and to the west by the foothill mountains of Boulder. This relaxing and quiet area was one of Boulder's first neighborhoods, and now, with its street-enveloping trees and spectacular architecture, is one of Boulder's most memorable locations.
Easy Boulder Living
Victorian and Queen Ann homes are the norm on Mapleton Hills, with a mix of east and west coast architectural styles creating an interesting and diverse collection of homes. Elegant stone work and rich hues are on display against rolling lawns and bright flowers. As the name implies, Mapleton Hills is in fact on a hill, thus most Mapleton homes afford spectacular city and mountain views. Mapleton's main street, 6th Avenue, harbors a huge, tree-lined median- these trees, with their enormous size, canopy gently over the entire neighborhood.
Residents of Mapleton Hills make only a short walk or bike ride to enjoy Boulder's best restaurants, cafes and nightlife. A commercial area on the west end of Pearl Street is part of Mapleton and slightly closer than the rest of Pearl Streets amenities. Pasta Jays, a homey-feeling Boulder staple, serves up hearty and satisfying Italian fare. Centro Latin Kitchen offers to-die-for Mohitos (don't know what this is? - stop in to find out!) and a diverse Cuban-influenced menu. Barts CD Cellar provides every music title under the sun, and an extensive selection of used music as well.
Another bonus of Mapleton Hills is its proximity to the mountains-right next door really. Mount Sanitas and its trailheads provide hikes for all ability levels, and a short drive up Sunshine Canyon gives way to numerous other hiking and biking trails.
Mapleton Hills is a lovely retreat from downtown Boulder, yet is still part of the downtown area. It truly is a unique Boulder neighborhood with everything you could ask for at your fingertips.
